Piece of Cake

My first quilt from Craftsy course Pre Cut Piecing made easy with Camille Roskelley is finished !!!!

This is pieces of cake 3, and Camille goes through making the quilt with a really lovely relaxed, she mucks up too attitude. There were some really good tips and I am really trying to get more accurate with my chain piecing. I get bored and don't pin as much as I should.

I'm taking the course with Cara from Pink Stitches and we had a virtual sew in day which got me motivated, 13 blocks done @croskelley rocks @pink_stitches how u doing with yours,I'll stop for a bit now :) oh be careful with directional fabrics had to unpick loads :(
although I had to unpick loads because of directional fabrics.

Then the frame didn't play nice :O( and its one of those ohhh I like it but it gave me grief quilts, but I learn't loads. It's actually a really simple quilt to make and I didn't use a layer cake so cut up my yardage into 10" squares, with a layer cake it'd be so quick.

I spent my Friday night of FNWF sewing on the binding which took me most of the night, I left some for label sewing in the sun on Saturday and put it on the quilt wall for photo's the second it was done.

Here's the finished article, about 63" with a fleece back and quilt blocks fabric. It was machine quilted using a sorta double swirl.

I hope my great aunt who we think is about 82 years old will like it when we hand deliver it to Cardiff in July :O)

  1. This is a great quilt Pippa! Love the fleecey back and the swirly quilting. I'm sure your great aunt will love it!

I have been doing Leah Day's FMQ Craftsy course and am really impressed. I think I will be doing a lot more Craftsy courses - they are much cheaper than going away for a course plus you can stop and start them.
